Help - I can't log Into my Email or Network Account!

Students often have trouble logging into their computer and email account, especially after summer vacation.  Below are some of the things that might be wrong, and how to fix them.

Did you forget your password?

First, try the password that you think you had. If that one doesn't work, try your default password, you can also try others you think you may have used recently. If you still cannot log in after trying several times, please come to the Pioneer drop-in computer lab room 200 to request that your password be reset to a generic default. You will also need to provide picture ID. (Faculty/Staff please contact the Staff Helpdesk.)

Are you pressing ENTER after you type your login ID?

After you type your login ID, you must use the TAB key or the mouse to get to the "Password" box and type in your password. If you press ENTER before doing so, you will get the error message "Please try again."

Are you typing your login ID correctly?

Your login ID, which you enter in the "User name" box, is your first initial+your lastname (no spaces) all lowercase characters, for example, cjones. (click here for more details)

Are you typing your password correctly?

You must enter your password correctly. If you make any typing errors, you will not be able to log in. Try typing your default password again, and make sure that the Caps Lock key is not on.

How do I look up my initial password?

On campus go to one of the computer labs and ask the Lab Attendant to assist you.  You can then look up your password using their computer.  You will be told to log into "Student Online Services."  Once logged in click on "Personal Information" next click "View Email Address."  This will show you your initial password. 

Off campus you can do the same thing if your computer is connected to the Internet.  Using your personal computer at the COCC home page (http://www.cocc.edu) click "My Log In" and log into "Student Online Services."  Once logged in click on "Personal Information" next click "View Email Address." 

This will not help if you have changed your password.

What do I do when I am locked out of my account? 

You will only locked out for 10 min. and then you can try again. If you continue to be locked out you may want to visit one of the computer labs where a freindly lab attendant can assist you.

You may need to have your password reset in which case you will be required to show photo identification.  Once your identity has been verified your password will be reset to the default which you can then change to something known only to you.

Passwords can only be reset Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 4:00PM.

How do I change my password?(Changing your password will change both your email and network account password!)

From any COCC campus computer

  1. Log on
  2. Hold down the Ctrl> and Alt> keys on your keyboard and tap the Delete key
  3. Click Change Password
  4. Fill out the form  

 
From off campus using OWA (Outlook Web Access)

  • Log on
  • On the Button Bar (you may have to click "enlarge Button Bar" to see the buttons
  • Click Options

  • Scroll down to Password
  • Click on Change Password
  • The COCC Domain is:  AD

How do I forward my COCC email to a different email account? top of page

From any COCC campus computer.

  • Launch Outlook
    • Go to the Tools menu.
    • Select "Out of Office Assistant".

 

    • Click the Radio Button "I am currently out of the office."
    • Type in an Auto Reply text such as "Your mail has been forwarded to (enter your other email address, here).
    • Click the "Add Rule" button at the bottom of the page.

 

    • Check the "Forward" box toward the bottom of the Edit Rule window.
    • Type in the email address to which you want your COCC email forwarded.
    • Click the OK button toward the top of the Edit Rule window.
    • Click the OK button toward the bottom of the Out of Office Assistant window.
    • Your COCC email will now be forwarded to your other email address. 

       

From Home Using OWA

  • Using your home computer go to the COCC web page
  • click MY LOGIN on the Red Tool Bar

  • Launch OWA by clicking its icon at the top of the screen

  • Log in (What is my password
  • Part 1 (Optional)
    • Click "Options" on the Button Bar

    • Select "Out of Office Assistant"

    • Click the Radio Button "I am currently out of the office"
    • Type in an Auto Reply text such as "Your mail has been forwarded to (enter your new email addres here)"
  • Part 2
    • Click "Rules" on the Button Bar

    • On the Rules Menu bar click "New" and check the "Forward" box towared the bottom of the Edit Rule window
    • Type in the email address to which you want your COCC email forwarded to

    • Click Save and Close
    • Your COCC email will now be forwarded to that email account
